Counseling Services
The Center is a non-profit community counseling agency offering individual, couple, child and family counseling. Services are provided for adolescents, and play therapy is available for children. The Center’s therapeutic approach is very flexible, and is specifically designed to meet the needs and goals of each individual client. Some typical problems for which people seek counseling include
- Marital disharmony
- adjustment to separation or divorce
- single parenting
- children’s school problems
- teenage adjustment
- anxiety
- depression
- parent/child conflicts
- and some crisis situations.
Community Services
The Center staff is available to talk with community groups and organizations to describe services in detail. Speaking engagements and presentations can be arranged by contacting the Center directly.
Service to Children and Families
Humboldt Family Service Center is a private non-profit agency that has provided counseling services to Humboldt County residents since 1971. It is structured after the Family Service Association of America, which is an organization of counseling agencies committed to children and families.
Fees
The Center’s fees are on a sliding scale, based on the client’s income and the number of dependents. The sliding scale enables the Center to offer services on a basis which is affordable to most local area residents. The Center is also able to accept some MediCal. And many health insurance plans will pay for a portion of the service for those who have coverage.
